Lakemac Heritage Festival 31 March – 1 April 2018

Lakemac Heritage Festival Inc. will run the very successful festival at Toronto foreshore over the Easter weekend in 2018. Over the years it has had several name changes from Heritage Afloat to Lake Macquarie Classic Boatfest and now Lakemac Heritage Festival. It is still the same event that happens every Easter weekend at Toronto Foreshore. This will be the 23rd year of the event and it has something for everyone.

The festival focuses on classic boats, with vintage and veteran car displays, children's activities (including the Easter egg hunt), live entertainment, the Lake Macquarie Historical Society display, the Vintage Farm Machinery display, market stalls, the Quick n Dirty boat building competition, Art Exhibition, Sail Past and Blessing of the Fleet. It is a jam packed weekend of fun. Ross McLean, ex-President of the Wooden Boat Association said ‘It is a great weekend filled with country hospitality’.

The aim of the event is to present a unique festival focussed on classic boats and the history and heritage of Lake Macquarie. Boats must be designed prior to 1990 and can be built of any material. Current President Malcolm Newbiggen said ‘We are always looking for boats to join us to celebrate the history of wooden & classic boats. It is a great weekend with around 10,000 people coming through to admire the boats on show.’

Registrations are now open for boats, vehicles, market stalls and teams for the Quick’n’Dirty Boat Building competition. All registration forms are available on the website.
